There are a number of ways to get to College. For those students travelling by bus or train, you may be able to take advantage of the special rates offered by certain transport providers. Please see below for details of offers and how to get a bus or train pass.

It is important that you research your proposed route to ensure that you get the best value.

To ensure you secure the student rate for bus and train tickets, you will need to provide a Student ID number.
Your Student ID number will be sent to you as part of the Enrolment email you will receive over the summer.

Surrey Student Bus or Train Fare Card

The Surrey Student Fare Card scheme gives students aged 16-18 who live in Surrey reduced rate bus and/or train travel to schools and colleges.

Fare cards can be purchased directly from Surrey County Council. Application forms need to be downloaded from here.

The cost is £25 for either a bus or train card. Students can travel on the buses at child fares, alternatively, the train cost would be one third off the adult fare.

Bus PassES 2020/2021

Stagecoach run safe, reliable, clean, punctual and comfortable local bus services across Hampshire, Surrey and Sussex, with some routes extending into Berkshire and Wiltshire. Stagecoach bus passes enable students to get unlimited travel on all Stagecoach buses. Stagecoach bus passes offer additional value as they can be used outside College hours, including holidays.

Due to the current lockdown restrictions, we do not yet have a set date when passes can be purchased from or how much they will cost. As soon as this has been confirmed with Stagecoach, we will update you.

To buy your bus pass online:

  1. Log onto www.stagecoachbus.com. (Please note, you will need your Student ID Number and a debit/credit card).

  2. Go to Student Tickets > All Tickets > Farnborough Sixth Form College.

  3. Once you have complete your purchase, you will then be sent your Stagecoach pass.

Stagecoach bus passes can be paid for in two instalments (the first payment in September, and the second payment in December). Alternatively, you can pay for your bus pass in six equal payments, payable at the beginning of each half term by card. This has to be applied for directly through the Student Services Office at College. Bus passes are only valid per half term.

Please note all bus routes are subject to change - for more detailed information please visit the Stagecoach website. Prices given are not necessarily the best value for money for some routes. Please note that you must always show your College ID card with your bus pass.

Train PassES 2020/2021

There are three train stations within a short walking distance of the College; Farnborough Main, Farnborough North and Frimley.

Train passes are valid for the whole term including weekends and Reading Weeks. Tickets can only be used on specific routes when travelling to and from College.

Train passes can be purchased in advance of the start of term and can be ordered from the Student Services Office - due to the current lockdown restrictions, we do not yet have a set date when passes can be purchased from or how much they will cost. As soon as this has been confirmed, we will update you.

Payment and a passport sized photograph must accompany your application form before your pass can be ordered. Please allow 7-10 working days for rail passes to be processed.

16-17 Saver

If you’re aged 16 or 17, you can enjoy 50% off standard Anytime, Off-Peak, Advance and Season train tickets. A 16-17 Saver is just £30 and is valid for one year or until your 18th birthday, whichever comes first. Click here to find out more!
